Each professional will share his/ her experience, insights and questions as we begin to build our understanding of what customized courses are, and what we would like them to be across different types of academic institutions.

Suzanne Aroshas-Fischer: High school English Teacher and coordinator for support services in English at the Center for Students with Learning Disabilities, Attention Deficit Disorder and other Disabilities, Beit Berl College.
Shlomo Chertok: Head of the English depatment at Jerusalem Technological College where he English, academic literacy and Jewish thought.
Margie Cohen-Jackel: Created and teaches in the MUTAM courses at Ono College, as well teaching a regular course at the College of Management in Rishon LeZion
Debbie Hellerstein: Head of the EPIC department at the Levinsky-Wingate academic college, member of the HINET steering committee, chairwoman of the annual HINET conference, and managing editor for JEPIC.

This podcast entitled: Next Serving of Alphabet Soup: EAP to EPIC through VE/COIL explores the pedagogical practice of virtual exchange and Collaborative Online International Learning. Dr. Liz Dovrat who heads the EPIC department at Tel Hai College shares both her theoretical knowledge, based on her PhD in technology-enhanced learning, and practical experience, based on years of running a VE through Eramus+. Listeners will learn how to go about designing and implementing virtual exchanges as Liz shares her insights about the benefits and the challenges of implementing VE. The tips that Liz shares can be implemented as activities within existing courses or as full courses for EPIC courses for students across disciplines.

The nuts and bolts of implementing the CEFR in course material design: How to incorporate the principles of the CEFR in teaching and classroom activities
We will be moving from the more theoretical discussions we have been having to a very practical talk today where we will spend the next hour together with our guest speaker Batsheva Gutterman as we explore how the principles of the CEFR can be incorporated into curriculum design, lesson plans and assignments.

Welcome to the first EPIC podcast. We start off our series with a look at the history of the study of English in higher education and how conceptions and practices are changing as a result of internationalisation.
The EPIC podcast is a series that will explore the topic of English language teaching and learning at the tertiary level in Israel. We will begin with some historical background to situate shift from English for academic purposes to English for the purposes of international communication. Against this backdrop each podcast will focus on a different aspect related to language learning and language learning pedagogy, including topics such as the use of multiple languages in the classroom, reaching and teaching diverse learner populations, the place of AI in language instruction, to name a few. Our topics will be explored by guest experts and practicing teachers from the field.
Your host Dr. Susie Russak has years of experience in the fields of language and literacy acquisition and learning disabilities. She was one of the founders of the Support Center for Students with Special Needs at Beit Berl College where she provided support services in English.
